Day 62

Mallow has been waiting for his ride to Washington, and today is the Big Day.

In theory, the Graffunders will be meeting Penny and Caleb and handing over Mallow — I say in theory because Jennifer has long coveted Mallow in a big way, and meeting him only made it worse…

Her husband has been sending texts reminding her — just one puppy!

And the Lucky Puppy who will live to fill her Great-Aunt Mesa’s paws in Alex’s heart is Lupine.

And you know what that means: Kaibab Keeps Clarkia in this Wildflower Pozy

Clarkia for Clark and Pozy with a Z for Zoey and Terri Zimmerman.

Her great-great-great-great Grandma Abra won this carving for being High in Trial at the 2001 National Specialty. Pozy Clarkia has a legacy to grow into — and I know she will.

And then there was The One…

Have a Happy Day, Friends.

UPDATE!

Jennifer was willing to turn Mallow over to Penny — whew!

Day 61 A.M.

Picking a puppy is hard on my heart because it could suggest that I love or value one more than the others. I realize the puppies are not offended when they are not my Chosen One, but I feel sad on their behalf.

I have, therefore, always picked my puppy based on more objective criterion so that who stays here is really all about the random roll of the genetic dice and not conscious favoritism for one puppy.

For example, although maybe someday I will keep a boy, the presence of a Y chromosome currently eliminates some puppies right off the bat.

Sorry, Mallow — nothing personal!

I want one I can show in the Beauty Pageant — although a beautiful puppy, Clover’s white sock would have made that hard. And so on…

Not meeting my objective criterion doesn’t make a puppy bad or inferior — it simply means his or her life’s purpose is in a different direction, as determined by the roll of the genetic dice.

Another busy day here at Puppy Central and so more later…

Remember our Alex? One of these two girls will be going home with him tomorrow…

Good Night, Friends!

Day 60 A.M. & P.M.

The Wildflowers are blooming well in their new homes, as evidenced by this photo of Buttercup with her new canine family…

She has some growing to do to catch up!

Sage (new name forthcoming and it is not going to be Something, I promise) is traveling across the country to his new home in Indiana. Check out Bridget’s brilliant idea for protecting the floor when the puppy is in an x-pen at a hotel: one of those inexpensive and lightweight plastic picnic tablecloths!

Things are considerably quieter here in Montana with just three puppies. Playtime was shorter…

And nope — I have not decided.

Sigh.

I hope your day is more decisive than mine!

EVENING PHOTOS

Things were a little dry and so I turned the sprinkler on in the puppy yard.

Like children, the puppies thought this was Big Fun — this is Mallow…

Making a choice is so hard — could you choose between these two?

WF D60 Clarkia and Lupine.jpg

What a fabulous litter this is — every one of the Wildflowers is special, amazing, and beautiful. Daisy and Major did well — hence the difficult choice.
