Moonshadow Birthday Updates 🌖

Today we catch up with Moonshadows Merlin and Porter. Megan shares:

"It's so hard to believe that the Moonshadows are turning 5!!

Merlin continues to live his best life in Southwest Montana!  He absolutely adores being outside with his people hiking and exploring in the mountains.

He loves water and has never met a stream, creek, or river that he can resist at least wading through.  He's taken to just laying down right in the middle of the water when it's a particularly warm hike.  Merlin absolutely loves winter and snow and will happily bound outside and eat snow several times a day.  He really doesn't like fireworks or thunderstorms so we spend a lot of time comforting him on summer evenings.

He has become more vocal as he has gotten older with lots of whines, barks and general 'talking' when he wants to communicate.  He's very expressive and it's so easy to always know how he feels about things.  He still loves hanging out with his people and spends much of his day lounging in my home office as I work.  He is everyone's favorite coworker and my coworkers love when he makes an appearance on Zoom meetings.

Merlin is very patient with his twin 9 year old human siblings and is so tolerant of their desire to love on him.  He is adored by the whole family and, as you can see with his hat, is an enthusiastic fan of our local soccer club (although he is terrified of soccer balls!).

We wish all the Moonshadows a very happy 5th birthday and hope everyone is doing well!"

Thank you so much, Megan and family — and HAPPY BIRTHDAY MERLIN!!!! 🎉

Mike (and Patty) sends us this update:

“I would like to start by wishing the Bright Stars and of course our Moonshadows a Very Happy  Fifth Birthday!! It seems like yesterday when Patty and I waited to hear if we were going to get or first Berner. When we found out we were getting Porter/Buck we were so excited.

Porter has captured our hearts, souls and a day never goes by that he doesn't makes us laugh! The interesting part as he grows older is that his personality has changed very little.

First thing every morning he has to give Mom a big standup hug and licks her face to get her day started. Then it's off to Dad for a belly rub in front of our bedroom chair while he sits up to make sure I don't miss a spot. Oh by the way, he has to have the same rub, in the same spot, with a dog treat, before he goes to sleep at night. Now we can go on with the day only to be interrupted by a lap dog moment to make sure that I know he loves me.

Patty only gets her lap dog loving moment at our cabin.

What we didn't know was that a Berner barking doorbell came with him and we haven't been able to find the volume switch. Lol

Porter loves his brother, Micah our Lab, very much as he constantly thinks he needs his ears licked clean! Oh and I can't forget he loves to be a landscape artist trimming our trees, bushes and decorative grasses.

What a special boy he is and we love him very much!!”

Thank you Mike and Patty — and HAPPY BIRTHDAY PORTER!!!!

Two Moonshadow boys having such wonderful lives 💙💙

Moonshadows are Celebrating

We still need to hear from two Bright Stars but we can add those later (when I get them) — today we need to move on to the Moonshadows 🌖

We must begin by remember the two Moonshadows who are not here to celebrate turning five with their littermates: Margie and Obie, who sadly died recently of a very aggressive Lymphoma 💔 They live in our hearts and our memories.

Remember Tiny Titan from the Moonshadows? He is not so tiny anymore! Sandhano and Paul share this report of the boy who is named Pippin, which is the same as the father of the litter (who is alive and well):

“Pippin is the best hiking buddy.

Hard to believe he is going to be 5 yr. He stays close to us on hikes but does take some curiosity side sniffs ❤️

Thank you for letting us share our lives with Pippin.

Thank you, Sandhano and Paul, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY PIPPIN!!! 🎂

Jasen sends us this report about Andy:

“Andy is a happy boy always wants to do something.  Most likely the most vocal Berner I have ever known.

We ventured into the ring sports in 2025.  We got a rally title and worked on some more legs.  Andy can be shy with new humans so we have taken many trips to Home Depot for him to meet new people.

Maybe shy is to big of a word.  A loaf might be better as it only causes a problem when in the ring.  Which shows itself with him freezing up when the judge gets close.  If his big sister says it is ok then he is sitting on the foot.

We continue to take training classes.  Andy is a great traveler and enjoys going on trips.  We look forward to this year.”

Thank you so much, Jasen! HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDY!!! 🎉
