Oh My Heck (as they say in Utah)

“I have to breed her now — she is almost five!”

“No — I can wait one more cycle.”

“What if she doesn’t take or gets pyometra? Then all the eggs are in one basket (aka Starry).”

“But I don’t want another puppy right now!”

“But what if something happens to Starry?”

Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.

Welcome to my mind recently.

And then Starry started swelling up one recent morning.

The results of a likely spider encounter 🕷️

I made two quick, related decisions. Starry needed to be seen at Urgent Care and no — I cannot wait to breed Capella again. The results of all that: Starry got a Benadryl shot and is just fine, and Capella came in season that very afternoon.

Kismet? Serendipity? Who knows — but the spider is the reason I am moving decisively ahead with the OH My Heck Litter (not the real theme but it fits for now).

I do not create litters for other people. I breed one of my girls when I want a puppy. The Moonshadows were the exception — I did that litter because someone who matters needed a puppy from Daisy.

Daisy — she was SUCH a good dog 🩷

Selling puppies for income feels wrong to me. I have a job and do not require my girls to use Motherhood on my behalf. If I break even on a litter, I am happy. Spoiler Alert: That rarely happens (but I am still happy ❤️). Breeding for myself — and not to generate income — is why I have Limited Edition Puppies.

In an ideal world, I would let Starry grow up as an only puppy for a while but I do not live in that world (darn it). And so ready for the next puppy or not, here we go again. This photo of Asia (and Girly) captures how I feel right now 😬😂

Oh My Heck indeed 🤷🏼‍♀️

Happy Sunday, Friends ❤️

Starry did an amazing track today ⭐️

I hope you are having a wonderful week ❤️

Dogs are Amazing

This is Starry G on the corner of an urban track. She had crossed the parking lot to get to this turn, and then spent a couple of minutes ruling out the other directions. Watch for her commitment to the track 🎉

SO fun.

Happy Monday, Friend ❤️
