The Gems are 12 weeks now — almost three whole months!
Sapphire has a new official call name: Hans Solo. He had a puppy well check this week.
His cardiac cath procedure is scheduled for September 17th 🙏🍀. In the meantime, Hans Solo Sapphire (we have to use all the names for a bit so we know who we are talking about) is living his happy puppy life with Tricia and Dave, and his grandpa Ferguson and Aunt Halley 💙
Tommy Topaz is also doing SO well.
Jennifer shares that he is growing and learning and just a super sweet puppy — an excellent report!
Jasper and his Uncle Zuber (Bright Star aka L Litter) are having a lot of fun together.
Alison does a great job making sure both boys are enjoying playtime.
It is easy for puppies to get hurt by older dogs. Puppies can be annoying and not every dog has the patience of a saint, which is necessary for safe interactions between puppies and older dogs.

I think the motto for 12 week old puppies is, “A puppy’s gotta chew what a puppy’s gotta chew.”
And what a puppy’s gotta chew is basically everything. And everyone.
Rosebud: “Maybe if I don’t look, she will go away.” rePete: “Good luck with that.”
Chewing and biting are part of a puppy’s job description — it is not possible or desirable to try and make them stop.
Rather, it is all about diversion, distraction, and lots of appropriate activity (to wear them out!).
Like all normal developmental stages, this one is temporary.
But yes, it can be a bloody few weeks 🤷🏼♀️ The mantra of humans involved with a 12 week old puppy needs to be, “this too shall pass.” 😂
But I waited a long time for this puppy, and so I am savoring every bit of this.
There are always bandaids, after all!
