Gifted

Harper B for Blessed with one of her bestie, rePete. Both are 11+ years old.

Harperโ€™s only health issue is some stiffness from arthritis, which is not unexpected given her age and two knee repairs. Quick โ€” knock on wood that she stays healthy ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ

I call her walks, โ€œsniffsโ€ and limit them to a leisurely 1/2 mile about every other day. I sometimes drive so that Harper can do the โ€œsniffโ€ in a different place with different smells and scenery โ€” even older dogs (and humans) need and deserve an interesting life.

Someone told me recently that a good parent is one that raises the child they have โ€” not the one they wish they had. I think the same is true about dogs. We have to raise โ€” and live with โ€” the dog we have, adapting ourselves to the gift we have been given.

Harper B at 11 years and nine months.

Like the gift of older age ๐ŸŽ

Enjoy your wonderful day.
