Day 33 A.M. & P.M.

First baths!

I picked the kitchen sink to be big enough for puppy baths — it worked perfectly. Berkeley and I gave the baths and passed puppies to Bethany to dry…

I have a new variable speed dryer — they all experienced a wee bit of long distance, gentle blow drying.

Some of you know that we had recently bred Jordan, a Sparkle daughter we co-own with Dianne. I was hoping she would be pregnant because that would help solve the issue of too many great homes for not enough wonderful puppies.

Unfortunately, Jordan is not pregnant.

I will spare all the details but we have no reason to believe there are issues with Jordan’s (or Claire’s) fertility. Breeding can be complicated and adding in a pandemic made it more so — that is really the best explanation.

We are planning on a fall breeding (or two) but that doesn’t help the too many great homes/too few puppies situation for now. I have to settle on homes for the Wildflowers without the immediate option of that additional litter.

Some homes are settled but not all because we still have to let the puppies reveal who and what they are, and who and what they need in their lives going forward.

Basically, my job right now is Matchmaker.

All is well! This is Buttercup…

I had a small helper this morning.

But while we were cleaning, some puppies were plotting an escape from the Nursing Alcove — ahem, Clarkia…

I put Berkeley on guard duty.

That went well.

Puppy Central was soon clean and ready for the puppies and the small humans.

It is always good to see puppies handle new people — especially children — with aplomb.

Lincoln is 19 months and so requires a bit more careful management — he loves the puppies.

All nine.

Again, all nine plus Daisy.

The Wildflowers had another amazing day. New today was a ball pit — this is Mallow.

The toddler also enjoyed the balls!

Our wonderful friend, Almighty Heidi (Queen of Everything), met the Wildflowers for the first time.

I continue to love how the puppies handle new things and new people.
