Auggie is NINE!

Lois sends us an update on Newly-Nine Auggie:

“Nine years later he is still keeping us entertained and loved.

The old man is in pretty good health.  We actually have had only a couple of night terrors during the last seven months of the pandemic.  Maybe he thought enough was enough after all!   He loves his time in the forest and is still active although he lets us know it’s time to go home a little quicker than he used to.

I think the biggest gift of the pandemic has been that we have been with our boys and each other 24-7.

I remind myself that our time with our furry ones (and each other) is short and finite so we relish the time we have to spend together without work or travel interruptions.

Both boys are looking forward to this stuff returning!  This was from early in the quarantine time.  I am realizing that we will have gone through all four seasons by now and are no closer to having the pandemic under control.  Well, Gus and Auggie do not care!

Auggie wishes Happy Birthday to his sisters Harper and Heidi, a sad farewell to his brothers Zeke and Holden Squeaker who left us this year and a remembrance to his sisters Lainey and Mesa who both left us too early.  We as the human caretakers for these special beings know that any time they leave is too early for us.”

Thank you, Lois — and HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AUGGIE!

Big Birthday

Today we celebrate — but first we remember: Holden, Zeke, Lainey, and Mesa.

And Terri Z. who owned the dad of the H Moon Litter and who never forgot their birthday.

Loved, remembered and missed — all of them.

Let’s spread this birthday over a couple of days — we will start with Heidi Heidi. John sends us this update:

Wishing a VERY happy birthday to the entire H litter - whether here with us or across the rainbow bridge…

We are celebrating today with Heidi’s favorite activity - hanging out with her family!  We have errands to run and the rain has cleared so it’s a perfect day.  Heidi loves going anywhere in the car, her favorite place to nap.  Yesterday she spent the afternoon at my parents farm running around with the other dogs… she is still energetic and has very little, if no, gray hair!

Recently, Heidi’s collar tag broke off so I went to her file and pulled a new one out from the baggie full of tags sent by Terri Z.  We are thinking of her on this special day as well.

Thank you, John :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Heidi!
