The puppies and I left Fillmore, Utah at 5:30 a.m. and headed for Salt Lake City where my fully vaccinated status made it safe for me to meet and hold my newest grandson, Jake Jr.

He is so perfect.

Vaccinations are not yet a ticket for normal life to resume but they do create more safe spaces around us, and that is so wonderful.

The puppies played while I held the baby and when they were ready to fall back asleep, it was time to load up and head north.

The next Puppy Play Stop was courtesy of Lucy Clover King and her wonderful family in Idaho Falls…

Lucy is a Wildflower, and so is Metis’s half-sister and aunt to Lyra and Capella.

These puppies have been Rock Stars with the travel and all the new people…

The girls even trained the puppies to walk on a new surface!!

Thank you to Lucy and her family for the wonderful visit — it was great to see all them.

Tired from the playdate, the puppies slept the rest of the way home. In the past six days, I have driven 2800+ miles on puppy transport adventures!

And speaking of adventures, there is another one tomorrow — an epic adventure!

The Match Report

Greetings from a KOA Camping Cabin — that seemed easier than trying to stay in a hotel with puppies.

I left home yesterday with ten puppies — only Portia stayed behind and that was because her new family was coming to get her.

I proceeded carefully down Highway 93 with my excellent travelers, turning right towards Stanley after Challis, Idaho.

Stanley, Idaho is amazingly beautiful…

Two lane mountain roads all the way to Boise.

I met Cheryl and Jerry in Stanley, and that is how James Perseus became Tobie…

Nine puppies and I continued on to Boise. Cindy and Vic kindly let us do an outside puppy party/pick-up at their farm. Guess who came?

GRANDCHILDREN!

GRANDCHILDREN!

Sirius was the first to leave…

Val Sirius.jpg

He will live in Truckee, CA with Valerie and Adam.

Hunter — now Oberon — will live in Boise with his new humans, Linda and Mike…

Hunter Oberson.jpg

Also living in the Boise area is Buck — here he is with his new people, Mike and Patty…

Siblings went to siblings…

Kira and John.jpg

Kira and her family welcomed Sun and John and his family (including Heidi from the H Moon Litter) now have Nova Jr. The Heintzbergers all live close to each other so the puppies — like the cousins — will grow up together…

SO.MUCH.FUN. Thanks to Cindy and Vic for everything they do for all of us — always.

Four puppies and I had a fun evening with Berkeley and Lincoln while Galen and Bethany went out for a much needed but too short break. Vaccination Win #1.

The puppies and I got up at 3:00 a.m. today and headed south. We took a break in Salt Lake City and I hugged Dear Daughter for the first time in a year. Vaccination Win #2.

Our final destination was Cedar City, Utah — look on a map and you will see we are epic travelers!

Nell and John Ward are long-time Berner folks now living in a lovely assisted-living facility. Nell has had some significant health challenges and so I worked with her facility to get permission to visit — Vaccination Win #3.

The puppies were a big hit with the staff…

We had a fully Covid vaccinated puppy party — Kay and Sue arrived as well…

Mirak — now Sage — will live in Phoenix with them and his Uncle Lucas (Claire’s littermate).

And so three puppies and I are hunkered down in a camping cabin and hoping to get some sleep tonight before making our way home tomorrow — with two fun stops planned.

WHEW.
